Are you an aspiring filmmaker or screen writer looking to get your name out there? Well, Synerfest is now accepting submissions for their film festival!

Synerfest is short for Synergy Festival, and it is a two part festival including film and music/arts.  The idea of the festival is to combine different forms of underground, dark art, built for artists that shy away from mainstream art. Synerfest is an amazing event where these different forms can come together and show off their talents, network, meet, cross-promote, collaborate and utilize each other’s resources.  The festival provides artists one place to see and ear the darker side of art. 

Synerfest Film Fest will take place October 15, 2010 at Studio 35 Theater, Columbus, OH. For prices and categories of entries see below:

17th Annual Austin Film Festival Screenplay and Teleplay Competitions Call For Entries is Open

As one of the most well respected contests of its kind, AFF’s Screenplay and Teleplay competitions continue to encourage and advocate the work for new, talented writers. 

Screenplay Competition:                             May 15th – Early Deadline ($40)

                                                                                June 1st – Late Deadline ($50)

 

Teleplay Competition:                                  June 1st – Final Deadline ($30)

                                                                               

**NEW FOR 2010: WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING ONLINE SUBMISSIONS!  For an additional $5 processing fee, we’ve made it quicker and easier for you to submit.  Or save the $5 and send your submission in the mail. 

Screenplay categories: Drama (Historical, Western, Drama, Family, Romance, Horror, Thriller, etc.) and/or Comedy (Dark, Satirical, Slapstick, and more). 

There are also TWO additional categories: Latitude Productions Award (Adult-themed, character-driven story with a production budget under 10 million dollars) and the Sci-Fi Award (fantasy, horror, science fiction, etc).  To be considered for these additional awards you must have your screenplay entered in either the Drama or Comedy Category. 

Teleplay categories: Drama and Sitcom.  The Teleplay Competition is open to any spec scripts for currently airing network or cable programs. 

Semifinalist and finalist scripts are judged by production company representatives, who have in the past included representatives from The Donners’ Company, Village Roadshow Pictures, Saturn Films, Whitelight Entertainment, Fortis Films, Liveplanet, Protozoa Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies, Focus Features, Fox Broadcasting, and WB.

**As an added bonus, we will be providing our Readers Notes to all screenplays and teleplays that reach the Second Round (top 10%) or higher in the competition at no extra charge!

The Lone Star International Film Festival, Fort Worth in Sundance Square has opened its call for entries for the 4th Annual festival running from November 10-14, 2010.  All genres are welcome, with competition categories for narrative features, shorts, documentaries, and animation.

Films that have been selected to screen at the LSIFF have gone on to receive recognition at major festivals and awards shows such as Cannes, Sundance, and the Academy Awards.  Our competition jury is comprised of industry professionals and prizes are designed to facilitate future projects of award winning filmmakers.  Past shorts prizes have consisted of software such as Autodesk Maya 2010, Final Draft, and other software to simplify the filmmaking process. The Best Narrative Feature winner will receive an assortment of goods and services that will assist the winner in producing their next feature film including a $50,000 35mm Panavision camera package.
